Show Your Soccer Pride

Posted in Hobbies by admin

If you are a serious soccer fan, sometimes it can be hard to convince your friends and family just how important soccer is to you. Although soccer is taken very seriously in most parts of the world, in some areas it is not recognized as a true sport. In America, for example, soccer is played mainly by school children. Although there are professional teams, most Americans do not care very much for the game. If you tell them that you are a soccer fan, they might just think you are not much of a sports fan at all. Of course, you are a fan, a die-hard soccer fan. But how can you prove that you really care about your team? That you do not just claim to like soccer to seem different or trendy?

Here is your answer: wear a soccer shirt! When friends and family scoff at your loyalties, you can just point at your jersey. They will understand that you are serious as a fan. After all, you bought soccer top! Your soccer top can just have your favorite team or it can have your favorite player’s number on the back. In fact, you are certainly not limited to purchasing just one shirt. Die-hard football fans have closets full of team gear. It is time the soccer fans struck back!

Wearing your soccer shirt will help promote the sport of soccer. If you choose a soccer shirt with a team name or player’s number, it is an instant conversation starter! Have you ever had a boring trip to the grocery store? Of course you have! Every trip to the grocery store is boring! Unless, of course, you have your very favorite soccer shirt on while you shop. When you are wearing your favorite soccer top, every trip to the grocery store has a little of the excitement of a football game. That is because, when you stop to get eggs or something else, your shirt afford the person next to you a chance to introduce himself or herself and tell you a little bit about why they love soccer and what team is the favorite to win the next World Cup. We have even heard tell of an individual who worse soccer top on a job interview. The interviewer was less than impressed until the individual with the soccer jersey stepped out on the sales floor and began talking to customers about soccer. The interviewee made three sales just during his interview. He was, of course, hired and told to wear a soccer shirt to every shift. Of course, wearing a soccer jersey to a job interview is a serious risk. But wearing it recreationally and just while doing errands is a no brainer! Wear your favorite soccer t-shirt or jersey and you can convince individuals to become fans and discuss the ins and outs of soccer with its very oldest fans. Who knows? Even your conversation about soccer might be overheard and might convince a new fan to go out and get his soccer top!

So you have decided to enter the world of digital scrapbooking? There are several great programs for designing digital scrapbook pages. Some of the popular ones are Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro. There are also many other programs specifically for scrapbooking. If you have recently started digital scrapbooking you may feel completely overwhelmed when you load your program but don’t worry with a little patience and practice you can learn how to digital scrapbook.

Here are seven tips for digital scrapbooking beginners.

1- Learn how to crop and resize proportionally. The biggest mistake I have seen with beginners is resizing pictures disproportionately. When you crop or resize your photos you don’t want your photos to get distorted. Tip for Photoshop : Hold down the shift key as you resize and it will keep your photos proportional. Tip for Paint Shop Pro: Hold down the alt key as you drag the corner and it will keep your photo proportional.

2- Learn how to use the layer palette. Learning how to work with layers is the hardest part of learning how to digital scrapbook. Start with working on small projects with just a few layers. Practice moving each layer in front or in back to get the hang of things. If you are using Paint Shop Pro you can just click on the layer to select it. For some people Paint Shop Pro is an easier program to start off with because it is easier to select the layers and move them around. If you are using Photoshop, you will need to look at the layer palette to select the layer you want to move. Tip for working with layers: Name your layers. Go to Layer Properties and type in a name for your layer so you don’t get confused. For example, if you have a green ribbon, name the layer green ribbon instead of Layer 3. Naming your layers really helps if you are working with a lot of layers.

3- Adjust your drop shadows. This is such an easy thing to do. If you use the default settings with Photoshop or Paintshop Pro you may end up with a very heavy drop shadow. This can make your page look overpowered or fuzzy. Adjust the opacity, angle and size of your drop shadow until you get a more natural setting.

4. Learn how to cut images or papers into shapes. One thing that is very fun to do with your scrapbook pages is cutting your pictures or papers into shapes. If you are using Paint Shop Pro use the custom shape tool to create your shape. Then place your photo on it’s own layer. Use the magic wand tool to select the shape. Then look for your photo on your layer palette. Select the photo layer, select inverse and then delete. This will cut your photo into a shape. For Photoshop: Create your custom shape. Then copy and paste your photo. Place it on the layer just above the shape. Click Control G to group your two layers. Then Control E to merge them. That’s it

5. Use Quick Kits. You may find different sites refer to quick kits by different names. Quick kits are easy to use templates. You don’t have to have a lot of experience to use them. You just copy and paste your photos into the templates. They may come with custom shapes or predesigned curvy borders that are easy to use. You do need to understand how to work with layers as well as grouping and merging layers but quick kits have all the hard part done for you.

6-The key to a good page is a good photo. Don’t just take boring photos. Try to think of creative poses or get a great shot of something interesting. Having a good photo to work with will make your page go from boring to outstanding. You want people to look at your page and notice the photos. Here are a few tips for enhancing your photos and making them “pop”. Tip: Try adjusting the curves and the contrast to brighten up your pictures. In Paint Shop Pro to adjust the curves go to Adjust>> Brightness and Contrast>> Curves. To adjust the contrast go to Adjust>> Brightness and Contrast>> Brightness/Contrast. For Photoshop to adjust the curves go to Image>>Adjustments>>>>Curves. To adjust the contrast go to Image>> Adjustments>> Brightness/Contrast.

7- Save your work. Save your layered file. Every time you make a revision save it. If you think you might want to change something save two versions of your work, one with the change and one without it. Sometimes you make so many changes that you can’t get your page back to how you had it. I will sometimes make seven versions of the same page. This way if I don’t like something I can always go back to my original file.

I hope that you have found these tips helpful.

Women account for over 75% of the direct sales force in the US. Most of us didn’t start out with direct sales as our career goal. We didn’t graduate with that end in mind. But somehow or another we did discover direct sales and we love it!

I enjoyed coming up with this list of top reasons metromoms love direct sales. It helped remind me of what’s motivating me as an entrepreneur/mother of three. Take a look at these reasons and see where you fit in.

·        MONEY

Let’s face it, with the recent trends in the economy—especially at the gas pump—many of us need something to provide financial breathing room. Direct sales gives us the ability to meet and establish our own financial goals—whether that’s a few hundred dollars a month or a more substantial income.

Direct sales has the added benefit of offering opportunities for residual income. Once you have established a customer, you benefit from all future sales!

Direct sales usually requires just a small investment to get started. With most companies, it takes very little capital and very little inventory to be on your way. Plus you get tax write-offs from running a home-based business!

·        CONTROL

Direct sales allows us to control our careers. Instead of just a JOB, we enjoy something more meaningful. You get out of it what you put in to it. You make the choice about how much you make along with how much and how hard you want to work.

You can also work around your family’s schedule. As moms we also love how direct sales lets us balance our career with our personal and family life. We’re committed to spending time with our children and direct sales is a perfect vehicle that allows us to earn money, but still have time for a life.

·        FUN

There are over 30 industries represented in direct sales, so there is certainly something to fit your interests—from books, to finances, to travel, to gourmet food, to wellness products, to scrapbooking… the list goes on and on. So you can find the one that meets your needs and your personality.

Then there is the social aspect to direct sales. You have access to your own large support network and have the possibility of partnering with your friends for a common goal. Many of us also love the chance to share our products through “parties” and gatherings.

As women when we find a solution to a problem we naturally want to share it with others. We enjoy the opportunity to connect and interact with other women and help them get the products they need.

For those of us who’re very focused on providing great service, this allows us to provide very personalized sales service.

·        PRODUCTS

Many of the women I’ve talked with got initially involved with direct sales because they were so enthusiastic about the products. Women love to shop and buy, but not be sold to.

Direct sales allows us to get our products at a reduced price and/or make a commission for sharing something we’d happily buy anyway.

Why should you care about your reasons?

I encourage you to take a moment and reflect on all of the reasons why direct sales works for you—whether it’s the products, the opportunity to share solutions, the ability to balance your career with your family, the chance to make great money or your own unique combination of these reasons. With these reasons clearly in mind you’ll be proud of your choices and eager to share your solutions with others.

Having clarity about what drives you is an absolute key to success in direct sales. I’ll be sharing more tips on achieving this clarity in upcoming teleclasses so stay tuned!

Dust That Crock Pot Off!

Posted in Hobbies by admin

What’s slow and steady and will fit right into your face-paced life? Would you believe cooking with that old crock pot?!

Going slower in terms of cooking can actually help you go faster in the long run. Make sense? Keep reading and it will. When you prepare a crock pot meal in the morning, the food will be ready when you get home. No more waiting for the oven to preheat or food to defrost in the microwave.

Fast and slow cooking entered American kitchens in a big way during the 1970s. Rival introduced the Crock Pot slow cooker in 1971 (the slow cooking appliance was originally called a beanery). Microwave ovens also became affordable during the 1970s. (They actually went on the market in 1952 for the price of $1,295). By the 1980s, most couples could count on receiving at least one crock pot as a wedding gift. While it’s almost unthinkable to cook without a microwave today, many crock pots have been relegated to the closet shelf. It’s time to revive the Rival!

Five reasons to dust of the crock pot and start slow cooking again.

1. Save money. Starting a meal in the crock pot in the morning can save you from the temptation of grabbing fast food during the evening family rush hour. Save those fast food bucks for a meal out at a nice restaurant on the weekend when you have time to sit and enjoy it.

2. Save money. This reason’s so nice we said it twice. Crockery cooking can make less-expensive cuts of meat tender and delicious.

3. Save time. Cook when you have more energy and less stress. Have your food ready and waiting for you rather than the other way around. You’ll also save time on clean up. After the meal, you’ll have just one pot to wash. If you have a crock pot with the removable crockery liner (and you really should), clean up is extra easy.

4. Eat healthy. It doesn’t take a nutritionist to know that a meal of meat and veggies with a green salad on the side is going to be better for your body than another frozen pizza.

5. Keep your kitchen cool and your food hot. You won’t have to heat up the whole house just to roast a chicken or cook a pot of stew. The crock pot also frees the oven and stove for other foods when you’re cooking a big meal.

To make the most of your rediscovered crock pot, try not peek at the food while it’s cooking. Every time you lift the lid, you add 20 minutes to the cooking time.

To convert regular recipes for use in the crock pot, reduce the amount of liquid by one-third to one-half, unless you’re making soup, rice or beans.

I hope this all makes sense. The best part about crock pot cooking is all the recipes you can make with the same crock pot. Just cut up the ingredients, throw them in the crock pot, wait 8 hours and a delicious meal is ready!

My mother who is 59 years old is interested in pursueing work in event planning. Possibly starting her own event planning business. She is incredibly intelligent and has been told by several highly successful event planners that she is perfect for this type of work.

She specifically wants to plan parties, lectures, small gatherings,etc.. She currently works in a car dealership and doesnt have too much extra time, but I really want her to get started with this somehow. It would be ashame to not pursue your passion because of time and financial restraints. She does not have a college degree as well.

I was wondering what the best route for her to begin is? At this point college is out of the question and she doesnt have any start up capital to begin this. I am simply looking for a good starting point and possible websites and resources that will help with this pursuit. Thank you for you suggestions!

You’ve no doubt heard of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R Covey, and there is so much wisdom in this book. This article aims to give mumpreneurs and work at home mums their own seven habits which could help you to become “highly effective” in your juggling of business and family.

Being a mum and an entrepreneur is a delicate balancing act and many mums often turn to online life coaching experts and services to approach this significant challenge. When I coach women, I look at the individual and the circumstances surrounding her, her family and her career. I also focus her in on seven fundamental “habits” that will help her to juggle it all without feeling overwhelmed.

Habit No. 1 – Learn to prioritise

It is a truism that time is our most precious commodity and we just don’t have enough of it. It’s ironic that when you’re doing something that you don’t enjoy, the minutes seem to drag relentlessly.

And of course, when we are in the flow and life is full, time suddenly flies instead. If we don’t become proficient at time management, we tend to keep stumbling into overwhelm.

Professional coaching experts will tell you that time management is rule number one.

Brainstorm all your daily, weekly and monthly tasks and write everything down. You will need to allocate a priority to each task and condense this into a manageable timetable. It might seem a difficult and uninspiring exercise when you start this. However, with a little ingenuity and application, you can make it work. Print your resulting prioritisation plan out, put it somewhere you can see it and refer to it frequently.

Habit No. 2 – Don’t forget about you!

The second habit of highly effective mumpreneurs is that they remember to think about themselves! Without rewarding yourself and enjoying valuable “me” time you will quickly burn yourself out and be far less productive.

So make personal time a priority and understand that this is not about being selfish, but is in fact a vital investment in your business and your life.

Habit No. 3 – Make friends with a little routine in your life

Setting up a routine is one of the best habits you can practise. It is generally acknowledged that it takes about 14 repetitions at something before a habit becomes ingrained, and we all seem to perform better if we incorporate a routine.

Whilst you might not like to be too structured, I would be surprised if you do not benefit from incorporating some routine into part of your daily business management.

Habit No. 4 – Block out time without distractions

Whilst phone calls from close friends can sometimes be a welcome relief, don’t let distraction become the enemy of efficiency. You have to block out time when you can turn off your mobile phone and make use of your voicemail facility.

I’m not advocating that you ignore people, but just try blocking out some “do not disturb” time to focus on larger projects. You can then allocate time to return calls once you’ve completed the tasks and projects that are essential to grow your business.

Habit No. 5 – Create sacred space to work

Habit number five is about creating your own special and protected area. Many mumpreneurs run a business from their home. If you are a work at home entrepreneur, don’t try balancing a laptop on the kitchen table and putting your file cabinet in your bedroom!

Wherever it is in your home, make your workspace sacred and ideally place it in its own room, off-limits to the kids when you are working. Design your office with ergonomics in mind and so that it gives you the right environment to use your precious time effectively. If possible, have another computer set up elsewhere for personal use.

Habit No. 6 – Healthy body, healthy business

If you don’t look after your health, all the other habits will be difficult to maintain. Exercise and fitness must become a habit and you should plan on getting at least three exercise sessions in per week.

Do whatever is easiest for you to take on as a new exercise habit. So if you don’t live near a gym, it’s unrealistic to plan to go to a gym three times a week, as you’ll find that you don’t have the time to travel to and fro. Keep it simple – walking, running, cycling or dancing in front of an exercise DVD are all examples of keeping your body moving that are easy to adopt into your life as a mum.

Habit No. 7 – Build a superstar success team

You’ve heard the expression “no man is an island” and the same applies to women! We all need support to run a successful business – mothers even more than most as we’re juggling so many commitments. Ask yourself what sort of support you need to become a highly successful mumpreneur and start to look for ways of building your “superstar success team”.

Professional coaching can help you to achieve your business goals much more quickly than you would on your own and is an important part of any highly effective mumpreneur’s success team.

But however you choose to build your team, don’t try to do everything on your own as there is so much to be gained from seeking the wisdom of good friends, confidants, associates and professional experts. They can be superb sounding posts and lynchpins to your business success!

If you have you ever wondered how to start a successful craft business, you need to listen carefully. Homemade craft items have become more and more popular as gifts and home accessories. It doesn’t matter what your craft is, you can start your own successful craft business. Follow this simple guide to learn how to start your own successful craft business.

Who Can Start a Craft Business?

Craft businesses are really popular for moms to work on a part time basis. Most people start a home based craft business as a part time job or for extra income on the side. But a successful craft business is certainly not limited to moms. Anyone with a particular gift or skill can start a successful craft business.

Where Can I Sell My Crafts?

Whatever your skill is, from making candles to holiday ornaments for the Christmas tree, you will need to know where you are going to sell them. If you have smaller priced items, you may want to consider selling them at craft fairs or flea markets. If you have expensive handmade sculptures or heavy items that are very big, selling them at a craft fair might be impossible. Another option to consider would be selling them on the Internet, either on your own website or at an auction website such as Ebay. Finding the right way to market your crafts is important, because if no one sees your crafts, they can’t exactly buy them.

What Are Some Ideas for a Craft Business?

Depending on your particular skills, which I am sure you already know, there are many ideas for craft businesses. Just to mention a few:

– Candle Making

– Scrapbooking Business

– Greeting Card Business

– Seamstress

– Homemade Jewelry

– Soapmaking

– Furniture Design

– Gift Basket Business

– Pottery – Clay Figurines

A thought to consider when starting craft home businesses is that you need to carry a variety of products. For example, if you are making clay figurines, make sure that you have a variety before you beginning selling them. This will make sure that when people visit your booth or website, they can choose from a variety of products, to find exactly what they want.

When pricing your crafts, you’ll need to make sure you’re making a profit. Add the cost of all material used to make your craft, then determine what your time is worth. Add these two together then determine how much profit would make it worth it for your time and effort. Add it all together for the total price.

A successful craft business doesn’t have to be a big business, but it can be if you choose. It may be something that you do for fun or something that earns you a sizeable profit. Remember, the hardest part of anything is getting started, so you must make a commitment to the success of your new business. Always remember, it does take time to establish a business, no matter what kind.

If you are interested in starting a craft home business, there are many to choose from. Visit our craft home business directory for some great ideas for your craft business:
